Caring for Students - Aboriginal Student Support

St Francis de Sales Regional College acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land – the Wiradjuri people and pays respect to Elders past and present.

We know that their strength of spirit and wisdom will provide guidance and safe passage to their descendents today and for those who are visiting on this land – Wiradjuri country

St Francis de Sales provides additional support for students identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. As the majority of the Diocese of Wagga Wagga is located on Wiradjuri Country the term Aboriginal will be used to refer to both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, parents and carers.

Our Aboriginal School and Community Workers (ASCW) are Mrs Anne-Maree Ingram and Ms Tinyka Tabain. The Aboriginal School and Community Support Office is located in the MAC Centre.

The role of the ASCW includes:

  1. Supporting Aboriginal students and families
  2. Engagement and Connection with Aboriginal Elders and Community
  3. Supporting the integration of the cross-curriculum priority of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture for ALL students.

Parents and carers who seek further information regarding school support for Aboriginal students are advised to contact our helpful administrative staff in the front office and/or to speak to Anne-Maree Ingram or Tinyka Tabain.
